Faultmate | Software Modules

Having such a fantastic piece of technology as the Faultmate MSV Vehicle Server would be spoilt if it were not flexible or expandable in some way. But in our case we go one better:

The Vehicle Server is very clever in that it can communicate with any particular system on the vehicle using individual software modules i.e., one module for each vehicle system. These are then stored in a massive one gigabyte flash memory on the Vehicle Server and can be replaced with updated ones from your PC using the provided Vehicle Server software management utility.

Although any given vehicle may have a number of on-board systems with built in diagnostic capability and therefore require the use of several of our Vehicle Server’s software modules, to help reduce the cost of purchase we have made it possible to purchase licences to use only the software modules you require. This means that you do not need to buy a licence to use any software modules which you do not currently need.

So you can start your system off by just purchasing the MSV hardware with a licence for just one software module to help you sort out an existing problem, or purchase the licences for any selection of software modules you choose. Since all the software modules themselves are physically supplied with the Vehicle Server, adding the ability to use others later is nearly instant. You simply obtain a software module licence activation code from us and type it in once. From then on the Server will permit any software modules for that vehicle system to operate. Viewing the current state of which software modules have had their licences activated or not, and entering licence activation codes is incredibly easy and straightforward.

Naturally any licenced software module will work on its designated vehicle regardless of whatever vehicle model or year in which that system is found (Multiple Vehicles). However, we have also created a very special concept that will also allow you access to every single system fitted to any given vehicle at a much lower cost than purchasing the licences for the equivalent selection of our standard (Multiple Vehicle) software modules. We call this concept Single Vehicle Diagnostics. In effect you buy one licence for a given vehicle model, and for that price we licence all of the applicable software modules to your specific vehicle. However, the MSV system ID then becomes registered in Single vehicle use mode, so although the software modules used are exactlty the same, when used they will store specific information that will only ever allow them to work on that specific one single vehicle.
